One week old!

Emma Claire turned a week old yesterday! She had her first doctor's appointment and is now back up to her birth weight of 6 lb 11 oz. She was 6 lb 3 oz when we left the hospital on Sunday, so gaining 8 ounces in 4 days is great. She is an awesome nurser so I'm sure she'll chunk up soon. :) Ben went back to work today (just until noon) so I was alone with both kiddos for the first time...it went really well and luckily Ben was home before Grayson went down for a nap. I'm still healing from the c-section so I can't lift 28 lb. Grayson quite yet. More pictures of Emma Claire and her big brother giving her some love!

First night and full day home

Our first night home went amazingly well! After having her first bath given by Mommy and Daddy, Emma Claire slept peacefully in her bassinet the whole night---we had to wake her up every 3 hours to nurse and get her diaper changed. What a change from our first night home with her big brother! :) Today was our first full day home, and we enjoyed a relaxing day with Ben's mom Nancy (or Gee Gee, as Grayson calls her) here to help us out. Mom came by this morning and spent some time with Grayson and Emma Claire before she flew back to Denver. Emma Claire slept for most of the day and posed for the occasional photo shoot, and Grayson played with his daddy and Gee Gee. I'm recovering well and feeling better and better as the days pass. Adjusting to the second baby is much easier than the first---not sure if that's because we've done this before or because Emma Claire is an easier baby. Either way, we are very, very happy and blessed!

More pictures...

Introducing Emma Claire!

Emma Claire was born on Thursday, June 21st at 8:09am. She was 6 lb 11 oz and 18.5 inches long. She has a head FULL of thick, dark hair and is just the most beautiful girl in the world!! The c-section went very well and I'm feeling good. We came home from the hospital today and are glad to be back. Grayson seems to like his baby sister but so far ignores her for the most part. He had a blast being spoiled by his grandparents while we were in the hospital! :) LOTS of pics to come...

TOMORROW is the big day!!!

It's finally here!!! Emma Claire will be born in less than 12 hours! My c-section is scheduled for 7:15 tomorrow morning....we are very excited and just a little nervous. We should be home sometime this weekend so look for pictures of our sweet little girl in the next few days! :)

Lovin' the beach!

We have been taking full advantage of living near the beach lately! Grayson loves everything about it---the sand, the water, the shells, you name it. Here are some pictures taken during the past couple of weekends during our beach outings.

37 weeks

I feel like just yesterday we found out that Grayson was going to be a big brother, and now we're about to meet Baby Emma Claire! This picture was taken today, at 37 weeks 2 days. I feel great---weight gain is up to 17 lb. now, so I doubt I'll hit the 25 lb. mark like I did when I had Grayson. Can't wait to hold and kiss my sweet baby girl! :)

Free at last, free at last!!!

I'm officially OFF of bedrest and the terbutaline pump! Wooo hooo!! :) It's been a long (and boring) several months, but it obviously paid off----I'm over 37 weeks pregnant! There were many times when we thought Emma Claire would be born premature, and thankfully we're now past that point. The c-section is on June 21st, so now we're just waiting to see if she makes her arrival sometime in the next 11 days or waits until the scheduled date.

I'm thoroughly enjoying being off of bedrest. I took Grayson to the beach yesterday with some friends and their babies, and today Ben spent the day with Grayson so I could go to the beach with the girls and NO children. What a relaxing day!!! It is very rare that I can go to the beach without having to chase a toddler all over the place, and we mamas sure enjoyed just being able to SIT and read magazines! :)

I have lots of plans to take Grayson to the park, go walking, go out to lunch, and have a few beach days before Emma Claire is born---so hopefully she'll hold off a little longer so I can make up for the many weeks I spent confined to the couch. If she decides that she just can't wait to meet us, we'll happily welcome her and plan to do those things with a newborn in tow!

More updates to come soon....
